Plans for new special needs school in Narellan on display

Education minister Adrian Piccoli and Camden MP Chris Patterson at the announcement the former Hope Christian School site would be used as a school for special needs students. The community has the chance to have its say on the redevelopment of the former Hope Christian School site at Narellan.

The school, on Wilson Crescent, is set to become Camden’s first public school for children with special needs when it opens in 2018.

Until then, it will be used to temporarily accommodate pupils from the new Spring Farm Public School from January.

A spokesman from the department of education said as part of the community consultation, booths would be set up at Narellan Library to provide information about plans for the school.

He said construction was expected to start in the second half of next year with a development application expected to be lodged with Camden Council early next year.

The information booth will be at the library today and on December 9 from 10am-12pm.

Minor work is underway at the site to upgrade six classrooms.
