MY BEST HOLIDAY was in Fiji. Not only does it have the perfect mix of fun and relaxation, it’s also stunning and easy to get to from Australia. The locals also really make the place – they’re so warm and friendly that you just can’t help but be happy there.
THE BEST HOTEL I’VE STAYED IN is hard to choose. I’ve been very fortunate to have stayed in some incredible hotels all around the world, but – considering service, comfort and setting – there’s two that definitely stick out: Qualia on Hamilton Island and The Homestead, El Questro in the Kimberley. Both equally sensational.
I ALWAYS TAKE a photo of my son Ethan. I never leave home without it. Also, I always take a travel speaker as I love music and I need it, no matter where in the world I am.
WHAT I NEED FOR A PERFECT HOLIDAY is the right balance between relaxation and activity. Sometimes it’s great to just flop, drop and relax on the beach, but I really can’t sit still for longer than an hour. I need to explore wherever I am and I need outdoor activities to break things up.
MY BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE is to do your research before you leave and don’t rely solely on hotel website pictures, which can be made to look amazing but in reality just aren’t. You don’t want to let a shoddy hotel ruin your holiday.
MY WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY is when I’ve missed flights. I’ve had more than my share of those. But I’m actually really fortunate in that I haven’t had any really bad experiences on holiday.
THE BIGGEST PACKING MISTAKE I’VE MADE is to pack way too much every time. Only take what you really need and your most comfortable shoes and clothing. Otherwise, you’ll end up like me during a recent trip to New York, during which I had to buy more suitcases before the trip back home.
FOR MY NEXT TRIP I’M GOING on a well-earned trip to Fiji. I’m so in love with this place and its many beautiful islands. There’s always something new to discover there.
